The girls all dress very much in character. At a funeral, they may all be wearing black dresses, but the dresses reflect their individual styles. Like Hanna's netted veil (so adult!). In many episodes, Spencer wears ties and military jackets. In one, she is wearing a tie with her hair in a Dutch braid on top of her head. Her outfit is so noteworthy; do you know anyone who gets that dressed up for school? Aria's outfits are amazing, as the show's stylists confesses they're her favorite. The feathers - inspiring! Hanna, on the other hand, is supposed to be a shopaholic, so her fashion sense could be understood in that light.
But on the other hand, even Emily, who is supposed to be sporting grunge, wears vintage leather jackets and way stylish ripped jeans. They don't look like an afterthought. And, all of them always have thier hair either stick straight or curled with a curling iron - do they really have enough time to do their hair every day before school? Also, notice the full faces of makeup? Even when Hanna is in the hospital, she is completely made up! What's that about?
Question: What do you think is realistic about the way that young women dress today, and what is just for TV?
Also, do you think Jenna would be wearing the same pair of sunglasses when she's blind as when she used to be able to see?
Please share your thoughts - the outfits are too out there not to have an opinion on them!
