Anyone else thinking the contents of Aria’s file might finally explain her shady behavior throughout the entire show, including the strange chemistry between her and Mona?
Might as well be wishful thinking, but I’d really like it if it turns out that Aria isn’t so angelic and compassionate like they’re constantly portraying her. She has become such a bland character. It’s been made clear multiple times that nobody on this show is actually trustworthy (obviously, since the show is about LYING), let alone so innocent. Above all, wouldn’t it be a little out of the ordinary to make one of the Liars an exception on this? Every Liar has shown bits of their dark side at some point, so why not Aria? Especially if you’d consider that she’s supposed to be ‘the biggest liar out of them all’.
I highly doubt she’s the villain this time or that she has been so all along, but Aria simply has to have been involved somehow and maybe that’s still the case. So many clues have been pointing towards her being evil or at least having some huge secret(s), it’d just be a waste to not properly resolve them. There must be SOME kind of explanation. Either way, she’s hiding something big and I'm pretty sure that’s why her file was stolen. Maybe she never went to Iceland after Ali went missing and spent that year at Radley? That could result in an interesting outcome and we know mental illness runs in the family.
As for why Uber -A took it (assuming A.D really knew about the storm cellar before the Liars and it isn’t just someone else), maybe he wants to frame/blackmail her? Besides, for all we know, Aria could’ve visited the cellar out of plain curiosity before or after talking to Emily. Who says she came straight after dinner? She could’ve even somehow made a deal with ‘the devil’ (aka A.D) like Hanna & Emily did once back during Mona’s reign. Even Spencer agreed in S3 to joining the A-Team for certain reasons. As far as we know thanks to events like this, -A can be willing to negotiate with their targets if it benefits them.
And it’s actually pretty obvious that they went to the cellar a day after learning about it, seeing as Emily preferred to do it tomorrow because she was too busy with her mom’s birthday party and the other girls had some stuff going on as well. Anything could’ve happened in that time span; - we know Noel Kahn was present at the party and we didn’t see him leave, so he could've easily eavesdropped their conversation about the storm cellar for example. He probably visited it to investigate afterwards — that would explain why his file was the one to get burnt since we know he got blackmailed twice with something still unknown and that info was probably in there. It also hasn’t really been confirmed that the ‘supposedly A.D’-ending of 7x07 happened BEFORE or AFTER the cellar got destroyed and there must be a good reason why they kept her file.
Noel has always taken a lot of interest in Aria too, so it's likely that he took it out of curiosity and that must’ve resulted in the discovery of some pretty nasty secrets. He might be the ultimate red herring, but he’s definitely involved with A.D. This guy has never been in Rosewood for the right reasons. Thus leading me to the conclusion that he gave it to A.D and they texted Aria about it, trying to bring one of the Liars into their control. According to this speculation, Noel must've probably also been the one to inform A.D about the cellar.
Here’s the twist: Aria knows something important about Charlotte’s murder and offered that information to A.D if they kept quiet. Let’s not forget how Aria lied about going out to see Ezra after the girls questioned her and that she kept insisting to Ezra that he won’t tell anyone that they saw each other that night. If Hanna didn’t see her sneaking out in the middle of the night, this lie would’ve only been exposed to the girls themselves when they see the tape. And that’s IF Aria wouldn’t just delete the tape on her own as soon as she realizes that’s what she needs to do to actually cover her lie up.
Why act like that if seemingly ‘nothing’ happened? Not saying she’s the killer, but she definitely saw or overheard something suspicious — either during their date or after Ezra dropped her off at the taxi near the church. This could possibly be something similar to the Lyndon-Jenna thing from S3, considering this Uber -A storyline is showing a lot of similarities to the very first seasons. ‘Little did she know which consequences this would eventually have.’
Knowing PLL, I’m probably overthinking this way too much. But out of all storylines from the main girls, Aria’s storyline looks the most incomplete to me. What do we really know about her if we exclude anything related to romance?
