Biography

Jason used to smoke pot and hang out with Ian Thomas and Garrett Reynolds. In high school, he, along with Ian and Garrett, were in a secret club called N.A.T. Interestingly, the Ivy League student had not participated in any other school clubs. It is also revealed in a flashback in Season 2, that he almost hated Alison because she would often go into his room and take his belongings.

Jason later reveals that he was always jealous of Alison, and had felt that his parents thought they "lost the wrong kid." He dated CeCe Drake for over a year. She broke up with him the day after Alison's body was found which he took hard and resented her for it. He later takes a great interest in Aria until she turns him down because she's already in a relationship with Ezra Fitz.

Series

Please, Do Talk About Me When I'm Gone

Jason came back to Rosewood with a new clean cut look that surprised most of the girls. His purpose in returning to Rosewood was to help organize Alison's memorial. (This eventually turned into him directing the project.) He is now guarded and keeps secrets. Jason reveals to Spencer what Alison also told him about "The Jenna Thing," specifically her revision in which Spencer was behind everything, including being the one to throw the stink bomb, which exploded and burned down the Cavanaugh's garage and severely injured Jenna Marshall. Jason speaks about the incident to Spencer. She asks if he believes his sister's story but he does not reply which causes her to tell him that he's just like Alison. To this, he replies that he is even worse than Alison. The day after the memorial, he decides to give the girls Alison's bracelet and leaves.

If At First You Don't Succeed, Lie, Lie Again

Jason returns to Rosewood again. After finding "A's" picture of Alison the day she disappeared, Spencer seeks him out to show it to him. Spencer finds Jason working out on some bleachers. Jason tells Spencer that he and his family have received similar photos of Alison taken during the night she disappeared and goes on to tell her that a private investigator has determined many of them to be fake. Still, he is willing to see if this one is real.

PLL115-0745

Later, Spencer comes home to find him waiting for her.He opens up to Spencer about his past with drugs and lets her know that it is possible that he took that picture of Alison because he doesn't remember that night or most of that summer, as it turns out. The vantage point of the photograph was his house and, quite possibly, his bedroom window. In this episode, Jason also reveals that planning Alison's memorial was one of the biggest challenges he has ever faced.

PLL202-0520

Jason returns once again, however Parker Bagley has been replaced by Drew Van Acker. He moves into his old house, in which he once lived with Alison, after inheriting some money. Spencer visits him and offers to help him move in properly, however he declines her help and questions Spencer about Alison's death, asking whether Ian really admitted to killing her. Jason seems dissatisfied with Spencer's vague answer. At the end, Jason is building a fence around his house in order to keep people out. Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Aria see this and they think he is keeping someone in, like no good for nothing Ian.

My Name Is Trouble

PPL203-0335

Jason hires Toby Cavanaugh to help him build the fence. After her field hockey practice, Spencer stops by Jason's house and asks where Toby is. Jason says that he left about an hour ago. Spencer asks Jason if he is the only one living in the house and Jason says yes and tells her that he'll let Toby know she stopped by.

PPL203-0692

Jason and Toby work on the fence and Jason asks Toby if he wants to take a break since he is working so hard. But Toby says it's all right. Jason asks Toby if people around here are still giving him a hard time and Toby gives him a look that indicates people are. Jason says that he never thought Toby had killed Ali and the only thing he was guilty of was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just then, Spencer comes by and Jason thought it was Melissa. Spencer asks why he thought she was Melissa, and Jason says that the mailman keeps on giving his mail to their house. Jason goes inside and asks if Toby or Spencer wants anything but they say no thanks. Jason brings some garbage bags outside but they fall over and bloody tissues come out while Spencer and Toby watch, but Jason says that he cut himself.

Blind Dates

Pre

At the basketball court, Aria goes to find Mike, but only finds Mike's friends and, unexpectedly, Jason. Mike's friends let her know that he hasn't been around in months, and Jason theorizes that Mike is doing things his family obviously wouldn't approve. Aria is worried, but grateful to Jason. For a moment, it seem that Jason is flirting when he tells her he remembers her pink hair highlight and misses her bold fashion statement. Aria is flattered.

The Devil You Know

PLL205-0428

Jason sees someone trying to break in to his house. He catches the burglar's hand and it turns out to be Mike. Jason brings Mike to Aria's house but doesn't call the police. Jason explains that he didn't really get into his house, he caught him at the window. Aria says thank-you to him for not calling the police and he says not to worry because he has seen enough cops at his house for one year.

PLL205-0926

Jason goes to Ian's funeral but sits on a bench. Aria sees him and goes over to talk to him. He tells her that he was always very jealous of Alison, and he feels he should have died instead of his sister. Jason confides to Aria that it is possible that he killed Alison, as he has no recollection of what happened that night and knows that he could be violent when jealous. Jason shows Aria a piece of paper he received the next day, warning him that someone knew what he did, though the reference is vague. That slip always made him worry that he might have been the one to harm Alison. However, he admits the relief he feels from the closure that Ian's confession had brought him.

Never Letting Go

PLL206-0585

Jason meets with Aria outside Emily's house to talk about the sensitive information he revealed to her at Ian's funeral. The next day after school, the two meet to discuss what photos to use for Alison's tribute at the fashion show. Aria begins asking him questions, hoping to "shake a memory loose" about the day of Ali's disappearance. Jason feels like he is being interrogated and leaves somewhat angrily and disappointed.

PLL206-1045
Backstage at the fashion show, Aria and Jason exchange a meaningful look before he is introduced on stage. During the "unplanned finale" fiasco, Jason escorts his mother away from the chaos. Later, he appears backstage just as Noel is handing Aria the disc that could theoretically incriminate her and her friends. Jason steps in, takes the disc, and snaps it, not allowing Noel to bully Aria. He then offers Aria a ride home, and she accepts.

Surface Tension

PLL207-00318

Jason's character is developed to a great extent. He visits Rosewood High on a school day to talk to the guidance counsellor; he wants to help at-risk high school students by showing them that there is life after high school. Aria finds Jason sitting in Ella's classroom, thanking her for the kind note she sent his mother. Ella lets Aria know that Jason is also invited to dinner that night, and Aria gives him a half-smile. Ella has invited Jason, thinking he could use some "human companionship" while going through this tough time, especially living in the old house, alone.

R435435

That night, Jason arrives at Aria's house with flowers, which he hands to Aria. Jason and Ezra Fitz meet for the first time. Aria steps out of the party to answer a call from Spencer, warning Aria that Jason may have been involved in Alison's death and to be alert with Jason in her house. Spencer and Aria both remember the incident last summer when Jason nearly hit Ali with a hockey stick. He had come looking for her on their mother's orders, not pleased to have to do it. He had grabbed the stick from her and then threatened to hit her with it. After that, Ali had tried to whack her brother with the stick, but Jason had moved quickly and mockingly warned Ali that she wouldn't get a second chance. Spencer finds it awfully incriminating to have found that same hockey stick buried on her property near where Jason was building a fence. She finds it doubly incriminating that Jason doesn't remember anything from the night Ali disappeared.

PLL207-00743

Later, back at the party, Jason and Ezra to know one another, sharing their stories about biking and traveling. Then, the dinner party is interrupted with news of Mike's arrest. Jason and Aria exchange knowing looks, at which Ezra raises an eyebrow. Byron Montgomery and Ella leave to pick him up, leaving Ezra, Jason, and Aria alone in the house.

PLL207-00847

After cleaning up a bit, and speaking with Ezra, Aria goes back out to the living room, where Jason is sitting, to offer him coffee. Aria and Jason discuss Mike's arrest; she lets him know that Mike had promised her that he wouldn't repeat his mistake, and he wisely lets her know that he probably meant it at the time. He also tells her that if this is his first time getting caught, he has probably raided multiple houses before. Afterwards, Aria rushes down the stairs, suddenly telling Ezra and Jason to leave. So they leave, pausing briefly at the doorstop for an awkward stare-down before going their separate ways.

Picture This

PLL209-00239

Spencer goes over to Jason's house and spies on him from the bushes. He is working around his house when one of the workers tries to go into the shed. Jason quickly runs over and tells the worker not to go in there. The worker walks away and Jason locks the door and puts the key above the doors, unbeknownst to him that Spencer is watching him.

PLL209-00750

Jason goes over to Aria's house where she is shocked to see him. She begins to act weird around him but that is due to the dreams she had about him. He explains that her dad let him in and he gives her a card for a person from a youth center that could help Mike. Aria then confesses to him that she is worried about Mike and Jason puts his arm on her shoulder. After he takes his arm off, Aria tries to get him to leave saying she has to study for some tests even though she doesn't. Aria pushes him out the door saying thanks for helping and Jason sees that Aria put the books back and knows something is up.

PLL209-00994

Spencer and Emily break in to Jason's shed where they find pictures of Aria. They hear him come in and quickly leave but Emily drops her flashlight. Jason comes in and finds the flashlight and knows someone broke in.

Jaria2

Jason later sees Aria walking on the street and he stops to talk to her. He tells her that his shed was broken into but Aria says that Mike didn't do it because he hasn't left him room. Jason replies "I didn't go there." He also adds that he didn't think it was Mike anyway. Jason finally gets the courage and lays his heart down to her, telling her how he feels. He said, (quote): "The truth is I do care about your brother but I also care about you, and I wanted to tell you as an off-chance you might feel the same way." Jason then leans in slow enough for her to move if she didn't want to kiss him, which she didn't she kissed him back but not for long since she remembered Ezra. She breaks the kiss and says she's 'unavailable' and leaves him standing there.

Touched by an 'A'-ngel

PLL210-00191
Emily tells Aria about the pictures, so when she spots Jason in school, she confronts him. He is aggravated to hear that her friends were the ones who broke into his home. He lets her know that he had found a roll of film among Alison's belongings and had only figured out what the photographs were when he developed them in his dark room. Additionally, after seeing they were all of Aria, he had planned to give her one of the framed photographs as a gift.
PLL210-00689

Later, Aria is at the Grille by herself; Jason joins her and tries to make her feel relaxed instead of scared of him. He presents her with the frame. He also invites Aria to come over and see some more of Alison's belongings in the box he found hidden under her floorboards while he was renovating her room. He had found the roll of film in that box, and Aria is curious about what else is in there. Aria seems nervous during their conversation, and Jason picks up on Aria's twisting straws. Aria is still not completely trusting of Jason, though she is not totally wary of him either. Unbeknownst to both of them, Spencer and Toby watch their encounter from outside the restaurant's window.

PLL210-00938

Aria agrees to go with him to his house, but she doesn't enter his shed and opts to wait for him outside instead. While waiting, Ezra pulls into Jason's driveway to 'save' Aria from Jason. The two kiss, and Jason finally comes back, just in time to witness the lip-lock. He gives Aria the box of belongings to keep and stares intently at her, acknowledging that Aria is "unavailable." He watches enviously as Aria enters Ezra's car.

PLL210-01214
Later that night, he sits subdued on his porch steps. Garrett Reynolds swings by and Jason greets him with the causality of old friends. Garrett offers Jason a can of beer, but when Jason gives him a look, he says "I forgot" and keeps it for himself. He makes himself comfortable and Jason nonchalantly asks him what he's thinking about. Garrett says that he wants to know that their secret is still under wraps, as he is a cop and his reputation is on the line. Jason stares at him, but doesn't say anything. The two then sit, kicking back.

In the next episode, Garrett is seen leaving Jason's house again. As well, Peter Hastings is seen exiting the house later that day, though he won't explain why he was there. Jason finally removes the newspaper boarding up the windows of Alison's room.

When Spencer and Toby leaf through Ian's yearbook, they note that Garrett, Jason, and Ian must have been friends as they were all in a secret club together. Jason had written a comment in Ian's yearbook about the N.A.T. club and the caption for that club is listed under all three yearbook pictures, though it is not in the glossary of clubs. Spencer finds a shirt with the words “Nos Animadvertus Totus” which had to be the full name for the N.A.T. club. It leads her to believe that N.A.T. loosely means "We See All" and that the three were all stalkers together, creating videos and taking pictures of the local Rosewood girls when they weren't looking. This assumption has yet to be confirmed.

I Must Confess

Based on information, it seems that Jason had been able to afford buying back his old home thanks to the money left to him in his grandmother's will. It is suggested that Jason had tried to sell a family heirloom, prompting his grandmother to change the will to exclude him a week before Alison's disappearance. After his grandmother's death some months later, Peter Hastings had doctored the documents to revert the will back to an earlier version, in which Jason was included. Peter explains to his daughter that this was done so as not to make Jason look responsible for killing his sister. The money is still rightfully his, as after Alison's death it would pass to the next relative. It is also very likely that Alison had something to do with the changed will, as she was asking questions, seemingly plotting to get the money all to herself.

Over My Dead Body

The argument between Peter and Jason in I Must Confess is referenced when Jason shows up to the police station upon hearing the girls were arrested. Peter immediately approaches him on the side and begs him to leave. But Jason is firm in his belief that his sister would have wanted him here, to which Mr. Hastings says he did things to protect Jason. Jason underlines that he didn't kill Ali, so there was never a need to protect him. Jason tells Peter that he bought the house because Ali was great at keeping secrets and punishing people with the truth.

PLL212-01037

Jason shows up at the police station.

Peter admits he was honest with Jason the night before because he thought it would help. Jason cryptically says, "I didn't give you a choice. Why do you think I bought that house?" We also learn that Jason no longer believes he could have killed Ali and that Garrett and Jenna wrote the note he had found the next day. Then Jason asks whether Veronica Hastings knows, mysteriously implying something that Peter comprehends immediately. Peter says no and insists that Veronica not find out whatever secret they are keeping that night with everything else that is going on.

The First Secret

PLL213-00457
Jason enters Alison's room without knocking, as Alison sits sprawled on her bed writing in a notebook. As soon as she sees him, she shuts the notebook. Jason starts to ask her questions and she questions him in return. Ali asks what Jason and his friends are doing behind his locked door, to which Jason responds, "if you want to know, it'll cost you." Ali asks the price and he says $20. When Ali gives him the cash he tells her that he & his "stoner buddies" are making a movie. Jason then gives her a package and says this was on the front porch for you. As Ali is opening it she tells Jason to leave her room. We then see the voodoo doll make its first appearance.

Birds of a Feather

Jason is clearly angry and he says that she can't avoid him forever as he walks over to her. Veronica asks that they not do this here but Jason is upset that she is defending Garrett because he murdered his sister. Jason asks why she is defending him and Veronica says that everyone deserves a fair trial. Jason then asks her if that is the only reason while looking at Melissa. Before Melissa or her mom can say anything, Jason walks away. Spencer runs outside after him to make sure he is OK. He says no but he will be while putting up a paper on a pole. He is offering a reward for any answers to the location of Ali's missing body.

1099

Jason is on his porch when he sees Spencer walking. Jason tells her that he has gotten over 200 calls from people who think they know what happened to Ali's body but none of it matters because it was all just lies. As she is leaving, Jason tells her that he is dropping the reward because she was right, it was too much for him. After Spencer leaves, Jason then pulls out his check book and signs the $50,000 check made out to "cash." When someone calls, Jason says to meet him in the park in 15 minutes.

The Remains of the "A"

2252
Jason meets Spencer at a bench outside of a store. Spencer needs his help with the April Rose case but Jason has never heard of her. As they wonder who April could be, Jason says that he could have met her but there were so many girls around them he may have just not remembered. Spencer brings up the N.A.T. Club which Jason is surprised she knows about. Jason thinks that Ian or Garrett could have filmed her but he was out of the club so he really doesn't know.
2505

Jason is later seen walking out with a kid he mentors when Peter wants to talk to him about Spencer. Jason rolls his eyes and walks away but Peter stops him. Peter asks that he leaves her out of this because he wants her to focus on her future and not the trial. Jason makes a comment that Peter should tell his wife that. Peter comments that he is wrong about why Veronica took this case and that she doesn't hate him. Jason says he thinks she doesn't hate him, rather it is Peter that she hates. Peter then pleads that he doesn't want Spencer's life derailed any further than it already has, that she needs to put this behind her and her sister. Jason cuts him off and asks which sister he is talking about because it turns out he has more than one. Jason then walks away.

Later at Spencer's house, Jason shows him and says he found April Rose. Spencer asks who it is but Jason shows her the yearbook he found and says it's an "it" and not a person. Spencer then says that he is going to drive and they leave.

2765

Jason and Spencer arrive at April Rose Antiques as they look around the store for anything. When the store clerk comes up and asks them if he can help them Jason begins to explain that their friend dropped something off here and wanted them to pick it up but they don't really know what to look for because their friend can't be reached. The store clerk says that most of this stuff people have brought in. So Jason goes over to where Spencer is and Spencer shows him the necklace that used to be Ali's. He asks if she is sure that it belonged to Ali and she says yes, that Ali never took it off. Spencer asks the clerk if he remembers who brought this in but the clerk has no idea. Jason asks the store clerk how much the necklace is but the store clerk says there is no tag so its just for display. Jason offers him $100, then $200 and then $400 before they can finally buy the necklace.

3134

Jason and Spencer go to the police station where Jason hands the necklace over to them saying he got an anonymous tip leading him to the necklace. Spencer asks when they will know if it means anything but Jason says the officer didn't say and right now they wait. Spencer asks Jason if he still has the letters that helped Jason figure out that her dad is their dad. Jason says he does and Spencer wants to see them. But Jason says she doesn't want to do that because it would just hurt. Spencer smiles at this and Jason asks what she is smiling at. Spencer says it's nothing, that she was just thinking how different he is from Ali because the reason he doesn't want her to see the letters would be the reason Ali would want her to see the letters. Jason says he wonders what kind of person she would have turned into because he sees it with the kids he works with, that at first they're all attitude but when you peel back the layers, you find a person.

Crazy

0358
Jason is on a run around the school when Spencer stops him. She thought that he was at the basketball courts but he said he pulled himself out of the game because he would hurt less people. Spencer says that would answer her next question which was is he all right because she feels like it was her fault. Jason assures her that she didn't make him go in there. Jason is done looking for answers because he is back to being a big screw up, which Spencer says he isn't. Attempting to cheer him up, Spencer brings up that she met CeCe and that she had an intense summer with Ali. But Jason says that their relationship ended on a bad note.

In a flashback, Jason is with his dad who is clearly mad at Hanna for what she did to his wife. His dad yells at Hanna as Jason tells him to just go but his dad keeps on shoving him away. Then, Jason leaves with his dad and they get back in the car.

0892
At night, Jason got really drunk and is driving at night. He passes Spencer before he runs into another car. Spencer gets out to make sure he is all right and realizes that he is drunk. Spencer says that he better leave because the police are on their way but Jason wants to stay so he could get arrested like Garrett. Spencer then tells him to move over. Jason asks her why and she says this never happened. So he moves over and Spencer drives away covering for Jason.

After Garrett is found dead, Jason waits in the train room as the police get statements from them. After Toby pushes Noel into the table, it breaks and a body bag comes out. Jason moves past the police as he looks at the bag, realizing that it's Ali's remains.

She's Better Now

Jason is at the High School and witnesses Mona Vanderwaal throwing away the cow brain. Later, Spencer sees him give Mona a hug.

That evening, Jason drives up to his house as Spencer approaches him. She is worried about him getting close to Mona because of what Mona did to them. Spencer informs Jason that Mona can't be trusted, but Jason likes to give people the benefit of the doubt because people used to say that about him.

At night, Jason sits on his porch when Spencer approaches him again. They discuss the fire that happened at the school and how Mona walked away without getting hurt. Jason hears her this time about how dangerous Mona is. After Spencer leaves, Jason goes to sit on his steps when Mona comes out with a band-aid to cover his wound, that looks a lot like a stab from a screwdriver.

Dead to Me

Jason enters the Brew where he finds Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Aria. He tells them that Ali's remains are getting re-buried at a mausoleum and that the things that they put in the casket are still missing. Jason knew that the girls would want some time with Ali as well, so he arranged for them to say their good-byes after his parents. But Spencer is done with all the good-byes and refuses to go.

The next day, Jason sees Spencer taking out a lot of cash from the ATM. Spencer isn't very talkative to him, so he informs her that the other girls are coming by the service around seven. Spencer makes a nasty comment about it being a real party. Jason wants to know what is wrong with her because Alison was her best friend. But Spencer doesn't want to have this fight with him so she drives away.

In the mausoleum, Jason, Hanna, Emily and Aria wait for Spencer to show up but she doesn't. When they go to Ali's mausoleum, they discuss how creepy it inside. Jason's parents could hardly stay in here because of how creepy it was. Just then, Spencer comes in and informs Jason that Ali was pregnant that summer, and that Wilden is the father. Jason is surprised at first but then leaves angrily.

What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted

PLLS03E19-05
In Jason is reading when Emily walks in and asks if they can talk about what Spencer said about Alison and Wilden. Jason first thinks that CeCe put Ali and Wilden together and Emily tells her she doesn't even know who he is. When Emily tells him about the picture of Wilden in Cape May, Jason remembers a picture Alison sent their dad with her on a boat and Emily wants to see it.

Later, Jason and Emily goes to his house to get the key and finds many bottles on his porch. when Jason starts to empty and throw it out, Emily gets a text from A "You better tell him to save a couple, he might need it" and Emily looks around worried.

At Jason's dad new loft, they start to unpack boxes to look for the picture. When Emily asks who would do that he says Alison would but she can't beyond the grave. Emily tells him that she knows he thinks of Mona as a friend but she would do something like that since she has pulled stunts like that for 2 years. But Jason says that she is a link to the answer of who dug up Alison's remains and that he is getting closer.

Emily finds the box and sees a picture of Alison on the boat. Alison isn't the only one on the boat, she is with Wilden and CeCe (who lied about knowing who he is) and Jason says maybe she was meeting him herself and has a flashback to the night Alison went missing. Jason had just woke and could barely stand, so he gets some water from the water hose. he then sees Melissa talking to some girl with blonde hair and a yellow top (Assumed to be Alison). when Jason calls Ali, the girl is revealed to be CeCe and they both look in shock as Jason dozes back off. Emily asks why didn't he tell the police he says because he still would've been a suspect because he was awake.

When they are leaving, the elevator stops as their phones have no signal. Jason manages to open the elevator and tells Emily to climb down but Emily if frightened. Jason tells her she can do it and she succeeds, but when she tries to get Jason out, the elevator closes and drops down; damaging Jason.

At the Hospital, Jason informs Emily that the photo is gone and Emily goes to get some water. Aria and Hanna who are closely followed by Spencer show up after getting Emily's S.O.S. and Emily tells them about the picture. The doctor comes back and asks them where Jason is. The group return back to his room only to find his bed empty.

Hot Water

Jason is mentioned by Emily to be staying with a friend in Virginia.

'A' is for A-l-i-v-e

Although not present in this episode, his mother Jessica DiLaurentis returned and mentioned that Jason was "Down south renovating Grandma DiLaurentis' place".

Close Encounters

Mr. Hastings reveals to Spencer that Jason fell off the wagon and that Jessica and he have been trying to get him into rehab. He also explains that Jason doesn't know about his parents' divorce because it could cause a relapse.

Jason is at his car, throwing some rubbish that was in the interior into the trash before wiping down the backseat and heading back inside the DiLaurentis house.

Inside the house, Jason pushes Alison’s bedroom door open and watches while she pretends to sleep, well aware that he is standing at her door.

The next morning Jason is out on the front porch when Alison comes outside. He tells her to go back in because there are ten cars at the end of their street of both the press and police. Alison tells him she’s not twerking through town and that she just wants to sit on her porch. Alison asks why he hasn’t asked her many question. To which Jason replies that he figured she might need her space. When Alison asks him what their mother’s reaction was to her being alive, Jason tells her Jessica was stunned. As a car pulls up outside of their house, Jason instructs Alison to get inside. Jessica had arranged to adopt a shelter dog before she disappeared. Jason wants nothing to do with the animal and tells the lady from the county shelter to take him away. However, Alison is quite taken with Pepe and she decides to keep him.

Jason and Kenneth are arguing in the DiLaurentis living room over Jason needing to go to Philadelphia to drop something off to a friend. Kenneth believes that Jason knows where Jessica is and the last thing Kenneth wants is Jason speaking to a reporter.

Later in the episode, Jason knocks on Hanna's car window, frightening both girls, and gives them a stern warning about meddling in places they shouldn’t be. Watching as Jason jumps into his car, Emily tells Hanna to follow him.

In Philadelphia, Emily and Hanna follow Jason to a rundown apartment building. After he leaves, they get out of the car and walk up to the building but are unable to get inside as they’re not sure which buzzer Jason had pressed.

Spencer goes to the DiLaurentis house to distract Kenneth while Alison sneaks out. Jason, who is sitting in the dark, scares her when he makes a comment on how late it is. He also makes a cryptic comment about knowing that Spencer went through their trash. Spencer asks if he was in New York the night Ali came back to Rosewood. Jason wants to know why it is important, and why Spencer thinks he did something, “you think I’m the one who kidnapped her?” Spencer again asks why he was in New York, but Jason doesn't get a chance to answer because Pepe starts barking, drawing away Spencer’s attention.

Spencer and Jason run over to the Hastings’ backyard after having heard the barks and screams. At first Spencer tries to hold Jason back when she realizes whose hand is sticking out but Jason easily pushes past her with a look of realization and devastation dawning on his face.

In the DiLaurentis' living room before Jessica's funeral, Kenneth is telling Jason he does not want any police or press at the funeral or cemetery. Jason tells him he has already taken care of everything. When Alison comes downstairs wearing one of Jessica's dresses, Kenneth gets quite angry and tells her to take it off when Jason intervenes and tells them they are already late for the funeral.

Jason is packing his belongings when Spencer comes over to visit. Spencer tries to talk about Jessica. However, Jason cuts her off by telling Spencer his mother was killed because she "had a lot of secrets. Too many. That's what really killed her". Spencer shows him the email Hanna found on Jessica's computer. Jessica had typed the words "I can't protect you anymore" before discontinuing. Jason tells his half-sister to cut her losses. He advises Spencer get out while she is still able to and also to bear in mind the fact that she can't trust "him". When Spencer asks who can't she trust, Jason simply says "our father".

Through a Glass, Darkly

Pretty Little Liars S05E14 Jason
Jason lets Spencer and Emily into the DiLaurentis house, and tells Emily that the kitchen is through the living room if she wants to look for her mom’s “whatever it was”. Emily tells him that it was a muffin tray, and that Pam had sworn she left it there before she heads off into the kitchen, leaving Jason and Spencer in the living room. Picking up a file, Jason tells Spencer that Alison is not home, and Spencer says that she knows, before stating that Jason and Alison are never in the same place at the same time these days.

Turning to face Spencer, Jason questions if it’s a trick question. To which Spencer tells him no and that it was just a regular statement. Jason asks Spencer what she wants and Spencer counters by saying that she wants to know why he is protecting Alison. As Jason scoffs, Spencer says that the police found traces of Mona’s DNA in Alison’s trunk. However, it’s not enough to arrest her, not when Jason is providing her with an alibi. When Jason doesn’t react, Spencer mentions that she understands why Kenneth is protecting Alison out but she can't fathom why Jason would do so as well. Cutting Spencer off, Jason tells her that it was Thanksgiving, and she’s the only one who finds it hard to believe that they weren’t all together that day. As Spencer begins to say that she knows, Jason calls out to Emily, asking if she’s found the muffin tray yet, but Emily calls back, telling him she hasn’t yet. Then Jason turns back to the files as Spencer steps towards him and says that sometime during Thanksgiving Day, Alison got in her car. She elaborates that Alison left the house and she didn’t come back for a long time. Jason starts realizing Spencer’s words are true while Spencer goes on to add that she knows Alison is his sister, but she is as well. Spencer emphasizes that Alison set her up and that she’s going to go to jail because of her, while not mentioning the fact that someone’s dead because of her. Jason turns to face Spencer when she tries to appeal to his better nature by telling him that they’re the ones who are asking him to lie, and all she wants is the truth.

Jason is looking through some childhood photos when Alison walks in and asks what he’s doing at the house. Still looking at the photos, Jason tells her that he stopped by to pick up some files for the office, “they were up in that closet with all dad’s family photos”. Jason asks Alison if she knows that she has three full baby albums, “guess how many I’ve got?”. After Alison looks awkwardly away, Jason finds a family photo and showing Alison, he asks if she remembers it. Taking the photo, Alison says that it was a good day, but Jason tells her that it wasn’t “dad forgot his wallet. We were fighting the whole time”. As Jason explains that it took eight shots before they got one photo of them all smiling, Alison comments that she must remember it differently. Jason tells her that she always had a knack for that, “remembering things differently. You and dad. I wish I had that, I really do”. Looking down at another photo, Jason mentions that Alison had Kenneth wrapped around her little finger from day one, before Alison asks whether Spencer talked with him. Jason says that she did, “and Emily”, before adding that the girls are right, “you went somewhere Thanksgiving Day. Then you came back and barely said a word”. When Jason questions Alison as to where she really went, Alison tells him that she’s being framed, and that Spencer, Emily, Aria and Hanna are all working together. Alison says that the girls wished she never came home, and now they want her gone. Alison then pleads with Jason to believe her, before stating that she didn’t kill Mona.

In an interrogation room at the Rosewood Police Department, Jason watches a video that was recorded of Mona being attacked in her own home in the lead up to her death. Tanner explains that Mrs Vanderwaal asked them to search the house again, and the police found three cameras, but the video they’re watching is the only relevant one. Tanner goes on to say that Mona put them in herself, and that the batteries ran down months ago, but they were working on Thanksgiving. Muting the television, Tanner asks Jason if there’s anything about the attacker that in any way is familiar to him. Leaning forward, Jason looks more closely at the video, before saying that it could be his sister, “it could be Alison”. Tanner questions how it could be his sister if Alison was with him and his father when the incident occurred, to which Jason says that it’s because Alison wasn’t with them, “that was a lie”. Tanner asks if Jason is saying that Alison wasn’t with him when Mona Vanderwaal was killed, and when Jason confirms that that’s right, Tanner thanks him.

Jason walks into the living room as Alison prepares to flee from the police who have pulled up in front of their house. As Jason moves into the room, Alison asks if he can at least try to stall them, and after taking a moment, Jason steps aside and lets Alison head out the back of the house.

Fresh Meat

An the DiLaurentis Real Estate office, Jason listens as Ashley tells him that she opened all the mail that looked work related and she had figured that eventually she would forward Jessica’s mail to him. Jason thanks her, before asking how Hanna is, and Ashley says that Hanna is focusing on the future. Going on, Ashley explains that Hanna is leaving later today for a weekend away at Ballard College, and that it is a big decision. Jason comments that it looks as though Ashley had also made a big decision, “I’m guessing since you’re facing out your resume”, and Ashley admits that she is. Ashley says that she saw something that looked potentially interesting and she thought she should…, but Jason cuts her off, saying that if she leaves, he’s stuck working with some stranger, someone will ask a lot of questions about his family. Ashley mentions that she has a few about Alison herself, before telling Jason that she honestly thinks that maybe he would be better off starting fresh with someone new at the office. Jason says that he doesn’t agree, before asking if there is anything he could say to get Ashley to stay for a month, “just so I feel confident enough to say that I belong at here and… really believe it”.

Jason is standing at the photocopier when the landline rings and Ashley answers. Jason starts listening to the phone conversation when he hears Ashley says Alison’s name, and turns his head to watch Ashley. When Ashley says, your brother, to Alison, Jason shakes his head no. Jason continues to shake his head no, and Ashley tells Alison that Jason not able to speak with her right now. Ashley offers the phone to Jason, but he just shakes his head again. After Jason has walked across the room, Ashley asks him to not make her do that again, and Jason says that saying no is not as hard as taking the call. Ashley questions if he has seen Alison since…, and cutting Ashley off, Jason says that he’s seen Alison once, but he can’t go back, “I can’t even look at her now without thinking she might have had something to do with what happened to my mom”.

Stepping through the Marin’s front door, Jason mentions to Ashley that he didn’t expect her to be home, and that he was just going to leave a few files at her front door. Ashley questions if he was at the office today, and Jason tells her that he figured that he could use a Saturday to catch up. Going on, Jason says that some of the paperwork doesn’t make sense and that they have a tenant whose lease expired three years ago. Ashley tells him that she’s happy to take a look at it, see if she can sort it out. After Jason passes the files over, Ashley questions if she should drop it off at his house tomorrow, but Jason comments that he’s staying at the Edgewood. Jason then explains to a surprised Ashley that his father made it very clear that he wasn’t welcome since his sister left. Ashley questions why, and Jason comments that it’s probably because he was the one who got her arrested. Ashley then questions whether or not he has eaten.

Over dinner, Ashley tells Jason that Jessica may have had a verbal agreement with the tenants from the files, and Jason says that she probably did. Going on, Jason mentions that people thought his mom was a hard ass, “but… truth is, she used to cry at dog food commercials”. Smiling, Ashley says that she does as well, and she doesn’t even have a dog. Jason tells her that she should, “you live in this big house all by yourself”, to which Ashley tells him not to remind her. Ashley begins to say that the day Hanna moves out…, but sighing, she comments that she’s just not as fond of her own company as she used to be. Jason asks why that is, and shaking her head, Ashley telling him that she doesn’t know, but so much has happened in the last few years, and she thinks that she’s scared of the white noise in her head. Jason says that he “can relate”, and sitting up straight, Ashley asks if there is anything else she can get him to drink. Jason says that he’s fine, and when Ashley says that she’ll take his plate, Jason kisses her. Apologising, Jason says that Ashley should consider the kiss as a thank you, “for dinner”. Smiling, Ashley tells him that she doesn’t mind being thanked, so Jason leans in to kiss her again.

Walking down the Marin’s staircase Jason buttons up his shirt.

Walking across the street to the Apple Rose Grille, Jason calls out to Aria when he spots her. After they greet each other, Jason asks Aria if she’s meeting someone, and looking at her phone, Aria tells him that she is, but she doesn’t think they’re going to show. Aria asks how he is since…, and Jason finished the sentence for her, “since I basically put my sister in prision?”, before saying that they could start at tense and work their way up from there. Aria asks how Alison is and that she’s tried to call the girls a few times, but cutting her off, Jason tells Aria that she doesn’t have to explain, “I went to see her once… That was enough”. Jason gets a text message, and after looking at his phone, he asks Aria if she wants to grab a bite with him. Explaining that he was supposed to meet Ashley, “Hanna’s mom”, for a working lunch but she just cancelled, “it might actually be nice to talk about Alison”. When Aria agrees, the two walk into the Grille.

Over lunch, Jason listens as Aria tells him to forget about the alibi, before questioning whether Kenneth really believes Alison. Jason tells her that it doesn’t matter, “he only knows how to protect her”. Saying that Kenneth will do the same thing on the witness stand, Jason comments that’s even if he knows what Alison’s capable of. Aria questions what Jason thinks Alison is capable of, and Jason says, “a lot”, and that he’s seen Alison do things, “I’ve seen her talk people into things”. As Jason beings to say, “the way you girls used to follow her around”…, Aria cuts him off, emphasising the words, used to. Jason comments that he knows the girls and Alison are not on the best of terms, and looking around the Grille, Jason tells Aria that the police have a theory, “they think she had help”. Aria questions if Alison had help with Mona, but Jason tells her after when she was putting Mona’s body in the trunk of her car, “hiding it… Dumping it”. Aria mentions that the girls kind of thought that as well, before asking if Jason remembers when Alison passed the lie detectors test. Jason realises that it must be someone on the inside, “who could change the results, make sure she passed”, and it’s then Aria asks if Jason has noticed anything between Alison and Holbrook. Saying that he’s only dealt with Holbrook a few times, Jason comments that he probably wouldn’t have noticed, “she can get away with things right under your nose”. Aria mentions that they think Alison and Holbrook might be close, and she talked him into doing things. Sitting back, Jason questions what is with the cops in “this” town, and when Aria asks if he thinks it’s possible, Jason tells that he can’t say for sure, “Ali’s probably cut him lose by now. What else can he do for her?”

The Bin of Sin

Pretty Little Liars S05E17 Jason
At the Apple Rose Grille, Jason listens as Ashley tells him that she reviewed the tenant contracts, made some notes, and organised the contract rebels they tend to overcharge for labor. Jason comments that Ashley doesn’t have to “do this”, and after Ashley questions him what she doesn’t have to do, Jason explains she doesn’t have to quit because of what happened the other night. Ashley tells him she does, and when Jason says that he admits that it was unexpected, “but I think unexpected is a good thing in my life right now”, Ashley reminds Jason that she’s seeing someone, and it’s serious. Jason questions how serious it is, and Ashley tells him that it’s serious enough that he proposed to her last night. As Jason comments, “that is serious”, Ashley explains that Ted was gone for three months and their relationship was a lot of phone calls and emails, she was lonely. Jason says that he knows what that’s like, and Ashley tells him that it wouldn’t be right for her to keep working for him, and she wasn’t going to stay passed the end of the month anyway. Saying that he gets it, Jason tells Ashley to feel free to swing by the office this afternoon and pick up the rest of her stuff, he’ll be out most of the day. Placing some money on the table, Jason gets up and walks from the Grille.

Walking into the Real Estate office, Jason apologises to Ashley when he notices her there, before commenting that he thought she would have been gone by now. Ashley explains that she had to do some things before she could come over, and when Jason says that he’ll go, “let you finish up”, Ashley tells him that it’s alright, she’s almost done. Placing his satchel on his desk, Jason mentions that she’s not wearing an engagement ring, to which Ashley tells him she hasn’t given Ted an answer yet. Explaining that Ted is a pastor, Ashley says that there are certain responsibilities that go along with marrying him and she’s not sure if she’s cut out for that life. Jason comments that he reckons Church socials could be “pretty brutal”, and Ashley says that she wishes it could be that simple. Ashley mentions that she hasn’t always made the best choices, before explaining that she wouldn’t want anything she’s done to hurt Ted, or always work for him. Walking over to Ashley, Jason asks if he can ask her something. When Ashley tells him sure, Jason asks if Saturday night happened so she would have an excuse to say no, “’cause I’ve done stuff like that before. Screwed up a good thing because I was afraid my past was going to get in the way”. Ashley tells him that that’s not what it was, and telling her maybe not, Jason says that he wouldn’t be offended if it had been, to which Ashley assures him it wasn’t. After Jason holds Ashley’s look for a minute, he walks passed her and over to some files lying next to the copier.

Jason is loading boxes into the trunk of Ashley’s car. When he shuts the trunk, Ashley thanks him for helping her before she passes him a sheet of paper. Jason asks her what it is, and Ashley explains that it’s a list of head hunters in the area and it shouldn’t be difficult to find someone to replace her. Jason thanks her, before apologising about what he said earlier, saying “I hope I didn’t cross a line”. Ashley tells him he didn’t and that there was probably some truth to it. Ashley then asks if he thinks he’ll stick with the business. Jason wryly replies that it’s not going to be easy working with his father, going on to elaborate “we’re not talking much right now, and when we do, it usually just consists of him reminding me of all the ways that I’ve disappointed him”. Ashley mentions that maybe Jason shouldn’t work with his father. She sheds some insight by saying that he can’t move forward if he’s always stuck in the past, to which Jason tells her that that’s good advice. Ashley says she hopes it works out for him. Jason says he hopes the same for her and Ashley hugs him goodbye. As they’re pulling away from their hug, Jason leans in and kisses her. However, Ashley pushes him away while Jason apologizes. Ashley states it can’t happen again, referring to their earlier affair. Jason watches as Ashley gets in her car and drives away, leaving him .standing in the street.

The Melody Lingers On

Pretty Little Liars S05E23 Jason
As Jason leaves the Real Estate Office, he’s confronted by Spencer, whose been standing there waiting. Jason greets her, and when Spencer mentions that she’s left him messages, Jason says that he knows. Spencer says that they need to talk, but Jason tells her he doesn’t think that’s such a good idea. As Spencer says his name, Jason comments that they two of them have pretty much exhausted anything they have to say to each other. Spencer says that he needs to listen to her, but Jason tells her no, he doesn’t, “I did listen to you and now they have me down as a prosecution witness”. Listening as Spencer says that she’s sorry, Jason remarks that she’s sorry, before telling her good. Watching as Kenneth walks out of the Real Estate Office, Jason listens as Spencer says that they need to talk about how Alison isn’t guilty, and as Kenneth starts moving towards them, he tells Jason to get into the car. Kenneth again tells Jason to get in the car, and as Jason opens the car door to get in, Spencer says that she just wants to speak with Jason, but Kenneth won’t allow it.

Sitting in the courtroom, Jason waits for the jury and the judge to enter so proceedings can begin. Jason listens as the prosecutor goes through his opening statement, asking the jury to remember high school, before saying that Ms. Marcus, Alison’s lawyer, will soon be telling them of an amazing story about Alison DiLaurentis and how she was kidnapped and traumatized by two years of captivity, how she escaped her captors and returned home with the help of her closest friends, but the Commonwealth will proved with direct testimony of witnesses that Alison DiLaurentis’ epic tale of abduction and escape is a lie. Douglas then adds that Alison planned and carried out the murder of Mona Vanderwaal, consigning her to a cruel, anonymous end.

Jason follows Kenneth and Rebecca down the hallway outside of the courtroom, and listens as his father questions whether Emily and Aria knew that Alison’s story was a lie. As Kenneth says that the four girls talked Alison into lying and that it was their idea, Jason tells Kenneth that “Ali lied to them the same way she lied to us”. Kenneth begins to say that Jason doesn’t know that, but Rebecca steps in, telling them not to get into it here. When Kenneth walks off, Jason shares a look with Rebecca, Emily and Aria, before turning and following his father back down the hallway.

Walking over to the Hastings’, Jason approaches Spencer who is reading the newspaper on the back porch steps. After they greet each other, Jason says that he just wants to apologise for earlier, “about my dad outside the office”, and when Spencer says that it’s okay, Jason comments that there’s still a pretty clear path between their houses. Spencer mentions that there’s been a lot of traffic over the years, to which Jason surmises that’s how Spencer knew Alison would “come this way” when she ran. Questioning if that’s how Spencer and the girls trapped Alison for the police, Jason listens as Spencer says that she really wishes they hadn’t. Jason explains that he let her go, “I let her run away”, before asking Spencer to guess why he did that, and when Spencer says that maybe he thought there was a chance Alison was telling the truth, Jason folds his arms over his chest, “it’s a funny thing for you to say”. Spencer says that she made a terrible mistake, but Jason tells her that he was the one who made a mistake, “I listened to you”. As a silence falls between them, Spencer stands, saying that she doesn’t think this will come as a surprise, but she can be really certain about things, and when Jason comments, “not a surprise”, Spencer tells him that she likes being certain, it’s where she’s comfortable, she’s not happy in the grey places so sometimes she goes to the sure when she knows she shouldn’t, and there’s somebody out there who knows that about her, and they’re doing a very good job of using it against her. When Jason says that nobody likes the grey places, Spencer admits that she doesn’t think Alison killed anybody. Jason turns, and as he starts to walk off, Spencer calls out to him. Turning back, Jason tells Spencer that he got a call from the prosecution office, “they’re shuffling the witness list. I’m testifying tomorrow”.

After watching the video of Mona being attacked on the day she died, Jason, who is on the witness stand, listens as Douglas Sirk, the prosecutor, asks if this is the video the police showed him. When Jason says that it is, Douglas questions that after he saw it, if he told the police of his sister’s whereabouts on the day that Mona Vanderwaal was attacked. Jason says he told the police that Alison wasn’t with him and their family, and when Douglas asks why Jason has decided to tell the truth about Alison’s alibi, Jason comments that he doesn’t know. Douglas wonders if it’s because of something Jason saw on the video, but Jason says that he doesn’t think so. Listening as Douglas questions that Jason told Detective Tanner that he thought the attacker in the video was Alison, Jason says that he may have said that, “but I don’t believe that now”. Douglas says that Jason told police, but cutting him off, Jason mentions that he’s been thinking and he’s sure it couldn’t be Alison. Watching as Douglas walks over to his table and picks up and looks through a file, Jason listens as Douglas asks whether he knows a girl named Hanna Marin. Alison’s lawyer objects, and when the Judge asks Prosecutor Sirk where he’s going, Douglas tells the judge that the witness has confirmed that the defendant doesn’t have an alibi, and he’s wanting the jury to understand what may have influenced Jason’s identification of the attacker. When the Judge tells Douglas to proceed, Douglas again questions whether Jason knows Hanna Marin. When Jason says that he does, Douglas wonders if Hanna is a friend of Alison’s, to which Jason confirms that she is.

Douglas then questions who Ashley Marin is and Jason replies that she’s “Hanna’s mother”. When Rebecca Marcus objects, Douglas rebuts her saying that it’s going to set the foundation for his following arugument. Consequently, the Judge overrules Rebecca before telling Douglas not to take the scenic route. Douglas asks Jason whether Mrs Marin is in the courtroom today and Jason affirms that she is. Douglas then asks Jason to point her out for the jury. Jason says Ashley is in the third row, stating that “she’s wearing a blue dress”, after which Douglas asks whether Mrs Marin works for Jason. Jason warily replies that she did before but not anymore.

Douglas questions if whether on occasions Jason met with Ashley out of the office and Jason replies in the affirmative. Jason listens as Douglas asks whether their meetings were social. Jason confirms that they were when Douglas asks how many times Jason has been with Ashley, socially. Jason begins to say that that’s private, before stopping himself, and after a pause, where he looks out to Ashley, he notes that he didn’t count. Douglas then questions whether these social meetings were always in public places, and when Jason says that most of them were, Douglas questions that not all of them were and some were in private. After saying yes, Jason listens as Douglas wonders how Jason would characterise the private meetings, to which Jason says that he doesn’t understand the question. Douglas questions whether Jason would describe the meetings as intimate, to which Jason sustains that they were private. As Douglas asks whether anything happened during these private meetings with the attractive woman seated in the gallery that lead Jason to alter his testimony, Jason tells him no. Douglas then asks if Ashley Marin, the mother of someone accused as an accomplice to this crime, offer any personal inducement to him to change his testimony to favour the defence, but Rebecca objects and the Judge sustains, telling Mr Sirk to move on. As Douglas says that it’s Jason last chance to clear the matter up or leave it to the jury’s imagination, Rebecca once again objects and the Judge once again sustains, before asking whether Douglas has any other questions for the witness. Jason and Douglas square off, before Douglas says that he has nothing further.

In the hallway outside the courtroom, Jason is berated by Kenneth, before Kenneth storms off and Rebecca follows him. As Jason starts to walk off in the opposite direction, he’s followed by Spencer who asks if he’s alright. Jason tells her to ask again after he finds a place to sleep tonight, and when Spencer starts to question what’s going on between him and Hanna’s mom, Jason tells her that it’s none of her business, “it’s nobody’s business”. Spencer says that he’s right, it’s not, and if he needs a place to stay, but Jason tells her it’s okay, “I’ll figure something out”. Turning, Jason begins to walk off before stopping and turning back, telling Spencer to cross her fingers and wish hard that she never has to sit in that chair, “you won’t like it”.

At Chester County Women’s Correctional Facility, Jason sits across from Alison. Commenting that they’re quite the pair, Jason listens as Alison mentions that lying is a one way street, and it’s kind of like the signs in parking lots and backing up causes severe tyre damage. Jason wonders what Alison’s lawyer thinks, and Alison tells him that Rebecca remains confident, except when she doesn’t know Alison is looking at her. Asking if there’s anything he can do, Jason listens as Alison tells him that he had the right idea a long time ago, to get out. Alison tells Jason to just leave and do it now, and after a short pause, Jason mentions that he believes her, “I’ve believed you since that night at the house when you tried to get away. I saw in your face you didn’t kill anyone”. Alison tells him she didn’t, but she let a lot of things happen that she shouldn’t of.

I'm a Good Girl, I Am

Although not in this episode, Alison mentions to Rebecca that Jason and Kenneth have gone to get lunch while the jury deliberate their decision.

Game On, Charles

Jason is present while Tanner and her crew protect Alison from A. He is mistaken for Andrew breaking into their house until he shows up and reveals he came in through the garage.

Songs of Experience

Jason is first mentioned in this episode when Spencer and Alison argue over whether they should ask him if he is aware of Charles's existence.

Spencer eventually pays Jason a visit and asks him if he has ever heard of someone named Charles DiLaurentis. Jason tells her that he doesn’t know anyone named Charles and comments that Andrew was just doing it to mess with Alison. Spencer gets a text from Hanna, calling her to Dr. Sullivan’s office and is about to leave when she hears Jason mumble something. Jason admits that he knew someone named Charlie, but he goes on to add “Charlie doesn’t exist.” Apparently, Charlie was Jason’s imaginary friend, but one day Mr. DiLaurentis told Jason that Charlie had to go away. Jason had believed him until now when Spencer tells him enough for him to start having doubts.

Later at the office,Jason is seen watching his father in quiet contemplation, musing if what Spencer had said was true.

Episode 3 Songs of Experience 505
The Liars also find a photo of two little boys with Jessica at the Campbell's Apple farm. One of them is clearly Jason and the other is presumably, Charles. This validates Jason's doubts as to whether Charles's existence had been fake. Afterwards, Alison slots the photo the girls found back into a photo album. Jason returns home and Alison shows him the photo.Kenneth returns home and finds his children lying in wait for him in the living room.Alison and Jason confront him immediately by asking him who the other boy in the photo is. Kenneth refuses to answer but Alison and Jason are firm in their stand. Kenneth finally gives in and starts telling them something, while a hooded figure watches them from outside.

Don't Look Now

At the beginning of the episode, Kenneth reveals to Alison and Jason that Charles is 15 months older than Jason and is their older brother. Jessica and Kenneth knew that he was troubled and provided him with treatment from the best doctors they could find. Sadly, no one could actually determine what was wrong with him. By the time Alison was one, they knew it was no longer safe to keep him around and so they had him institutionalized at Radley Sanitarium.

Jason wonders how no one in Rosewood ever mentioned him. Kenneth reveals they moved to Rosewood after Charles was sent off to Radley, and Jessica wanted the information about him to remain a secret. Kenneth also informs Ali and Jason that Jessica wanted to tell them about Charles. However, he thought it would be better if they learnt about him when they were older so that they would have a normal childhood, without all the distraction that Charles would cause in their lives. Jason is angered by the fact that Kenneth calls his own brother a distraction and that Kenneth had lied to him by telling him Charlie does not exist. Kenneth reiterates that he was doing the right thing as Charles would have consumed their lives. He and Jessica had hoped that Radley would help him but eventually he got worse. To the great shock and sadness of the siblings, Kenneth reveals that Charles committed suicide at the age of 16 by taking pills and thus, has never left Radley. Since Kenneth was out of the country when it happened, Jessica had his body cremated.

Alison finds Jason looking at a picture from when they were young in the DiLaurentis living room. Ali comments on how they were so innocent back then. She asks Jason if he is okay.Jason counters by asking her if she would be okay if she were convinced to believe what she saw with her own eyes to be a lie. Jason says that Jessica and Kenneth made him doubt himself and as a result, ever since then he has always doubted himself. Jason finds it hard to believe that no one else in their family knew about Charles. Alison tells him what the girls discovered and shows him Charles' Radley file. Ali also reveals that Aunt Carol visited Charles a lot in Radley. This strikes a chord with Jason who remembers the time he got hurt in the elevator the previous year. Thinking that Wilden was after him, Jason drove up to Aunt Carol's house to hide from him.

Jason tells Ali that upon arriving, he found Jessica who was stunned to see Jason out of the hospital and at Aunt Carol's house. In a flashback, Jessica told Jason that he could not stay there due to a plumbing issue. She also states that the house is in total disarray. Jason insists on staying for a night at the very least, however Jessica prevents him from doing so by planting herself in his way and asks him to go home. Suddenly a rattling noise is heard from within and Jason questions Jessica if someone else is inside the house with her. Jessica tells him it's just the wind and continues with her gardening work. Jason tells Alison he got in his car and left soon after. Alison asks him if he ever went back there. Jason replies that he never did but he always wondered why Jessica was keeping that place even though no one was living there. Alison suggests that maybe someone, I.e. Charles, was living there. Jason understands her implication.

Jason, Spencer, Hanna and Alison drive up to Aunt Carol’s house together. They all look around and Hanna comments that it does not look like anybody stays there. Jason says that he believes that’s what Charles wants people to think- that nobody lives there.Once inside the house they discover that the electricity supply of the house has been turned off. They keep looking around in an attempt to find any signs of Charles having lived there.

Later, Jason suggests that they take a look around the property before they leave. Hanna and Spencer decide to look in one direction and Jason and Alison in the other. They then discover a headstone with Charles’ name on it. Hanna believes that it was planted by ‘A’ to throw them off track and starts to dig up the ground even after Alison and Spencer ask her not to. Jason tells Hanna to stop digging after taking a closer look at the roots wrapped tightly around the headstone, saying that they've been growing for years and that wouldn't have been possible if someone had planted the headstone a few days back. Spencer checks to confirm this. At last, the group reaches the conclusion that Charles really is dead, or at least Ali and Jason do. Jason gets up and hugs Alison to comfort her.

O Brother, Where Art Thou

Outside of the DiLaurentis' house Jason is talking to Lorenzo, who is searching for Alison. He informs him, that their father took her out of town and he wouldn't know when she will be back. Lorenzo tells him to let Alison know he stopped by. Jason in return asks him to tell his colleagues to take of, since his sister won't be back for a couple of days. After Lorenzo leaves, Jason walks over to the red balloon he noticed before. He finds a birthday invitation of Charles, asking him to "Come alone or not at all"

After Alison informed Spencer that their brother is determined to meet Charles, the girls try to dissuade him from his plan, but he doesn't want to talk to them. Hanna puts a GPS tracker on his car and the girls decide to follow him to his meeting with Charles.

Later, Jason is at an abandoned arcade, where he is supposed to meet Charles. He calls for his brother, who then shows up in front of him. Before he is able to talk to Charles, Toby and Lorenzo enter the room, which causes Charles to smash baseballs at all of them. Seconds later, the girls come to help. Spencer wants to apologize to Jason, but he angrily leaves the building.

At the DiLaurentis' house, Jason is about to drink, but Alison stops him. She tells him that Charles isn't the person he remembers anymore and that he isn't worth ruining his life for. Jason declares their parents tried to erase every memory of Charles. All he wanted was just some minutes alone with his brother, before taking him to the police station. A voice of a boy is heard, yelling "Jason, come play with me". The siblings walk upstairs to find out where it is coming from. When they arrive at the attic, they find a video being played. It shows Jason, Alison and Charles celebrating his birthday. Jason and Alison remember that their mother took them out of school for a second cousins birthday and made them promise not to tell their father. Alison then finds a card from Charles, saying "I wanted to trust you".

Trivia

  • Jason biked the lava fields along the Kona coast in Hawaii after he first took off from college and compared it to be being on the moon.
  • In "Touched by an 'A'-ngel", his high school yearbook is shown to be from 2005, making him approximately 24.
  • He filmed two of his half sisters, Spencer and Alison with the N.A.T. Club
  • He kissed his half sister Melissa, not knowing that they were related.
  • There is speculation among fans that he was hiding Alison in his house, when the girls thought it was Ian. The fact she has been confirmed to be alive adds life to this.
  • He is the last living member of The N.A.T. Club. (besides maybe Jenna and Melissa)
  • He was close friends with Garrett and Ian in high school.
  • In "The Naked Truth" it is revealed that Jason is Peter Hastings' son, details are unclear but this makes him Spencer and Melissa's half-brother. Whether or not Alison is also Mr. Hastings child has not been revealed. This parallels the novel plot where Mr. Hastings has an affair with Mrs. DiLaurentis and him being the father of Alison and Courtney DiLaurentis, not Jason. However on TV, Mrs. Hastings knows about the affair, in the novels she does not.
  • Jason was originally portrayed by Parker Bagley. In season 2, Drew Van Acker took over the role due to the writers' wanting an actor who looked similar to how Jason was described in the books. The decision was also made so he had more of a resemblance to Alison.

Jason (To Peter): Which sister are we talking about? Because it turns out, I have more than one.

Jason (On why he pulled out of a basketball game): I figured I would hurt less people running around the block.

Jason [to Spencer]: I can tell when someone's lying. Can you?
