Caleb Rivers is a character in Pretty Little Liars a television series on ABC Family. Caleb was also a main character in Ravenswood, an ABC Family television series, the spin-off of PLL. He is portrayed by Tyler Blackburn.
Caleb is a street-smart, new kid at Rosewood High, Hanna's ex-boyfriend, former housemate of Lucas Gottesman, and a former spy for Jenna Marshall. Caleb has a sketchy past and illegally upgraded and fixed people's phones for money when he first moved to Rosewood. Caleb was the first person besides Dr. Sullivan to be told about "A" and actively worked on decrypting files from "A's" phone to help Hanna and her friends. In Season 3, he got shot by Lyndon James after finding Emily and Lyndon in the lighthouse at the Lighthouse Rock Inn, but he has since recovered.
Caleb was given up by his biological mother, Claudia Dawson, twelve years ago when he was around four or five years old, leading him to live in different care homes and foster parents. Caleb is open to reuniting with her for a visit when she extends the offer to him in Season 2. Living in foster care and his relationship with Hanna has greatly changed Caleb's outlook on the future. Caleb used to work for car thieves as a computer hacker in Allentown, but realized it was wrong and moved away.
He also realized spying on Hanna was wrong so backed away from Jenna and told Hanna the truth when she confronted him about it. But because of this they broke up but she eventually forgives him and they get back together again in Season 2. He is reunited with his father, who Hanna figured out was in fact Caleb's fake uncle, Jamie. Even though Caleb has had lots of family problems, Hanna is always there to support her boyfriend after he helps her with Mona and because they are in love. He was also previously shot by Lyndon James in the gut but has recovered since. He has moved to Ravenswood for the time being. It has been confirmed that he will return for season 5, however it is not yet known when exactly this will happen.
He came to fix Emily's phone so that she could call Maya at her reform school. He could tell Emily is desperate, so he charges her an extra 400 bucks for a rush job.
Hanna and Emily pick up her phone at the dance, where Caleb cryptically tells Hanna that while he may not know much about her, she doesn't know much about herself either.
Hanna and Caleb begin to see each other more and more in the hallways and finally talk when (where she would discover Aria and Mr. Fitz). He uses his phone to stage that his social worker has dismissed him from detention.

The next day, Caleb gives Hanna a piece from Ella Montgomery's car, which he had removed the day before. When Hanna finds him, she is pleased, but isn't outwardly grateful. She does offer him money, but Caleb says he wants something else; he doesn't know what yet, but he'll think about it.
In Je Suis une Amie, Caleb has come up with an idea for what he would like Hanna to do to repay him: date him in order to up his credibility at school and win himself some cu her chaser with hairspray. Eventually, Aria and Hanna realize that their pursuer is Caleb, who has been sleeping at the school, having been abandoned by both his biological and foster parents.

The next day in the hallways, Hanna expresses her concern over Caleb living in school. He brushes off her sympathy, and Hanna introduces him to Bridget Wu in exchange for Caleb listing all the places that he previously lived in. The two continue this banter, exchanging names for information, and their friendship grows.

Later, Hanna finds Caleb unexpectedly introducing himself to Ashley.
Hanna's mother is concerned about her daughter becoming friends with Caleb, wary of his secretive, sarcastic personality.
In The Badass Seed, Hanna walks into the bathroom to grab her mascara while Caleb is showering. Then, Ashley knocks on the bathroom door, asking Hanna if her phone was there. Ashley opens the bathroom door, prompting Hanna to jump in the shower fully clothed so that her mother won't realize it is Caleb showering, not Hanna. She holds her hand over his mouth so he won't make noise and she makes this awkward situation even worse when he catches her sneaking a peek when he turns around.

After that incident, Hanna ignores and avoids Caleb as much as possible. Thinking that she didn't want him in her house anymore, he prepares to leave. Hanna reluctantly tells the truth and Caleb is tender towards this. Touched, Hanna kisses him, which escalates into a full-on make out. Thus, the two of them begin to secretly date.

"Out here, you're like Dora the Explorer"
After Ashley forces Caleb out of the house, Hanna goes with him and they camp out in the woods. They talk about their past and roasting marshmallows, when they start kissing. Hanna later loses her virginity to him in the tent.
After Hanna comes home the next morning, Ashley lets her know that she was about to call the police, worried about Hanna. But Hanna snaps back at her mother, surprised that she doesn't sympathize with Caleb's plight. Realizing that her relationship with Hanna is at risk of being compromised, Ashley picks up the phone when Caleb calls Hanna, and invite him to dinner.
Caleb comes over for dinner. Afterwards, Ashley allows Caleb stay in the guest bedroom for Hanna's sake. It can be seen that Ashely begins to accept Hanna's new boyfriend when she tells him to address her as "Ashley," instead of "Mrs. Marin." Caleb then steps outside to make a mysterious phonecall; whoever he is speaking to, he lets him/her know that he is no longer willing to assist.
Gift for Hanna?
In the episode Someone to Watch Over Me, Hanna and Caleb seem closer than ever. At the Marins', Caleb makes eggs for breakfast, and Ashley gets used to having a guy in the house. Before heading out to school, Hanna finds what she thinks is a present meant for her in Caleb's bag in the form of a jeweled owl, presumably in commemoration of their first night when they heard owls in the woods.
At school, Aria and Emily overhear Caleb mysteriously speaking on the phone with someone, telling this person that something cannot happen that night. He keeps referring to "her," and it becomes clear after he mentions that he is living in "her" house that this "her" is Hanna. The other person seems to be hashing on Hanna and instructing him to accomplish some negative task. All the while, Caleb is defending Hanna. His phone conversation is overheard by Emily and Aria, and they conclude that Caleb is talking to another girl in a romantic way. When they share their suspicions with Hanna at lunch, she refuses to believe that Caleb would do such a thing. However, when Jenna walks into the lunch room wearing the owl pendent that was found earlier around her neck, Hanna is devastated. She tries to text Caleb, but he doesn't answer.
Spencer then watches Jenna outside, who is working on her laptop. Spencer finds out that the owl is a flash drive when she sees Jenna plugging it into her computer. Hanna tries to reach Caleb for answers, but he is M.I.A., so she writes him a note and slips it into his locker. She starts to walk away, but then pauses and turns around. Remembering the Jenna's 2-1-4 message provided by Toby, Hanna tries to open Caleb's locker with the combination, and to her surprise, it works. She is furious and hashes out on Caleb when she returns home from school. He replied he never meant to hurt her, adding the fact he told Jenna that he couldn't help her anymore once things between him and Hanna started happening. She is not satisfied with this his explanation, and makes him leave.
Hanna breaks down, heartbroken over what Caleb has done, and Ashley is disheartened. When checking up on her daughter, Hanna pretends to be taking a bath, but her mother knows that she is really crying alone in the bathroom.
In the next episode Monsters in the End, Caleb approaches Aria at school to request that she speak to Hanna on his behalf, but she doesn't want to get involved.
"What did Jenna want?"
Then, Hanna approaches Caleb, where he is sitting reading an outdoor bench. Caleb is hopeful that this means that they are on speaking terms again. However, Hanna just asks to sit next to him to ask about Jenna. Caleb reveals that Jenna was looking for a key, though Hanna has no clue why or for what reason. Caleb explains that it was related to Allison. Caleb then asks Hanna a few questions regarding "the Jenna Thing". But, she retorts saying that she gets to ask the questions. After Hanna exhausts everything that Caleb knows, he brings up the issue of their relationship, and admits that he misses her. Hanna nods for a moment, brushes it off her shoulders, and walks away.

In the evening, Caleb tries to give Hanna a special goodbye letter before leaving Rosewood for Arizona, explaining his feelings for her and of course, apologizing. He goes to the Marins' residence to drop off the note for Hanna, but Hanna has gone to work a booth at the Founders Day, and Mrs. Marin tells him that Hanna does not need another guy in her life leaving without saying goodbye. After the encounter with Mrs. Marin giving him this advice, Caleb seeks Hanna out at the festival. Though, when Hanna sees him, she hides, and Caleb gives the letter to Mona. Mona reads the letter, rips it up and throws it away. (The last line on the letter reads, "I love you Hanna.")
Later, Hanna sees Caleb boarding the bus out of Rosewood. When Aria encourages Hanna to go talk to him, she simply walks away believing that Caleb didn't even bother telling her goodbye.
In For Whom the Bell Tolls, At the end of the episode, we see Caleb right back to Rosewood with Lucas.
Caleb is currently back in Rosewood and staying at Lucas' house. Earlier, Lucas had brought Caleb back to Rosewood to reunite with Hanna, but even though Hanna was relieved to hear that Caleb had tried to say goodbye before he left, she still was not ready to forgive him yet.
In Blind Dates, Caleb is once again attending Rosewood High. He is eager to take Lucas up on his suggestion to make his date with Danielle a double with Caleb and Hanna. Caleb pushes Hanna during lunch to accept. She initially refuses, but after a few moments, she gives in. She points out that it is for Lucas' sake, not Caleb's benefit.
During the date, Caleb is back at Hanna's place joking around with her like old times, though Hanna seems annoyed by this. When Lucas informs Hanna that Danielle's assumption that Hanna s still into Lucas is ruining their date, she asks Caleb to embrace her, thus settling Danielle's fears and enabling her to get close to Lucas. Caleb is happy to embrace Hanna again, but she remarks that she isn't easy, letting him know she did it for their audience, not him.
In The Devil You Know, Caleb tries to comfort Hanna after the town believes Ian to be Alison's murderer. She rebuffs him, but then apologizes, citing what she's going through. She then asks if he's ever seen a corpse, which he replies in the affirmative. Later, she confronts his foster mother Janet about taking the checks the government gives her for raising Caleb. After Ian's funeral, Caleb brings food and ice for Hanna, and reveals that he knows that Hanna threatened Janet. They kiss as he is about to leave. In Never Letting Go, Caleb surprises Hanna by going to the fashion show. After that, he walks her home.
In Picture This, Caleb is found by a Private Investigator who was hired by his mom to find him. He later finds that his mom is very wealthy and is sorry she took to long to find him and that she has two other sons. Which means Caleb has two younger brothers or half-brothers. He decides to go meet his mom in California, but promises he will come back for Hanna.
In Over My Dead Body, Caleb returns to attend Hanna's father's and step-mother's wedding. Kate sees Hanna and Caleb talking in the church. As soon as Hanna walks away, she tries to make advances on Caleb. But, Caleb, the ever-loyal boyfriend, rebuffs her with an insult that Hanna inspired.
In "A Hot Piece of A," the Liars give the phone they found in The Greenhouse to Caleb hoping he would be able to decrypt the files in it. But, while downloading the information from the phone, the owner abruptly shuts it down. Caleb manages to get a few files but says that its going to take some time decrypting them as they are corrupted. Even though Hanna is reluctant, the others insist that he work on the files.
The next day, Hanna sees Caleb working on the files at school. Even though she's worried, Caleb assures her that no one knows what he's working on. When he asks about who's phone it is, Hanna does not give him a proper answer and instead calls out to Lucas, who is passing by, and makes plans to study after school.
At the Marins' Home, Hanna is studying with Lucas. While doing so, she gets a text from Spencer offering her lake house for Hanna and Caleb. Hanna suddenly gets the idea of throwing a surprise birthday party for Caleb and asks Lucas to help her.
At school, Caleb shows the girls a picture which he finally cracked from the one of the files. The photo shows four dolls which look exactly like the ones the girls received. He wants to know what the girls are exactly looking for but Spencer cuts him off saying that it's really great and asks him to forward the picture to all their phones. Aria, Emily and Spencer leave. When Hanna and Caleb are alone, Caleb really wants some answers but Hanna again changes the subject asking him what he wants for his birthday and then making out with him.
On his birthday, Caleb arrives at Spencer's Lake House to find Hanna totally drenched. When he asks about what happened, Hanna meekly mumbles, "surprise."
In Let the Water Hold Me Down, Caleb is determined to find Lucas but Hanna is not interested. This leads to a fight between the two and Caleb storms away.
Later, Caleb comes to Hanna's house and at the same time, gets a call from Hanna. Confused, he answers the phone. He immediately rushes to Hanna when he hears Lucas's threatening voice in the background. Caleb asks what Lucas did and where he has been. Lucas reveals that he lost $4,000 in a bet over a basketball game, the money which belonged to Caleb. It was a sure thing until the team got disqualified. To compensate, he had been driving around and selling his comic books. Lucas apologizes and gives him some of the money. Caleb assures him that they will figure something out.
In The Blond Leading the Blind, Caleb uncodes more videos. He see images in the video of Garrett, who happens to be sitting across from him at the espresso shop. Later on Caleb confronts Hanna on the cell phone and showing concern for her safety. After revealing that he is being watched Hanna destroys the flash drive in a blender leaving Caleb shocked.
Around the end of the episode we see Caleb talk to Spencer and Emily about the flash-drive Hanna destroyed and promises to keep working on the phone in exchange knowledge on what is going on and what Hanna is so afraid of him finding.
In A Kiss Before Lying, Caleb is now helping the girls without Hanna's knowing. Caleb is able to get an image of a fake ID Alison made. Later Hanna finds out about Caleb helping the girls secretly and storms out of Spencer's house after finding the image of the fake ID.
Hanna confronts Caleb when she asks him to come see her. She asked him why he would go behind her back knowing how long it took her to trust him. Also telling him he's not the only person she's trying to protect. She then tells him about the serious money issue's her family went through, how they almost lost their house and how Ashley stole money from the bank to keep that from happening. Caleb is thanks her for trusting him enough to tell him. Hanna also tells him someone else knows and is holding it over her and when Caleb asks who it is she responds with "I don't know but its their phone you're working on".
Caleb thinking the phone belongs to Jenna knowing her history with the girls and how she had him spy on Hanna for her, storms over to her house only to find no one home. As he is about to leave he is confronted by Garrett, who asks him what is he doing her late at night. Caleb tells him that he wants her to stop threatening Hanna but Garrett tells him he needs to be a lot scarier if he wants Jenna to stop anything. He then tries driving his car into Caleb bike in effort of scaring him away.
In The Naked Truth, The school is having a lock down for its Rosewood High Truth Up Day. Caleb attends only to find out he and Aria have been placed in the same class with Jenna. After sometime, Jason also enters the class along with Mrs. Hastings as their mentor. Aria wants to leave, but Caleb stops her saying that they don't have a choice and also that he has a lot to say with everybody speaking their minds today.
While in the music room the students are told to write something something truthful down and that it will be kept anonymous. Jenna refuses saying that people in the school have mistreated her and that it was full of phonies and liars. When Jenna goes to tell Mrs.Hastings on how she was cornered and slap in the girls restroom, Caleb immediately rebuffs that comment saying that if she did tell the truth that she would have to admit she threw the first punch.
Later on he and Hanna are on the roof of the school and Caleb tries to comfort her, reassuring her that her mother doesn't believe she sent that picture. He asks for her phone to see if he can trace the IP address on who actually sent the photo. Hanna refuses and tells him the way he can help her is by holding her. Caleb reluctantly gives up on trying to get her phone and kisses her.
At the end of the episode we see 'A' sneak into the assembly hall where Caleb is sleeping and take his laptop.
In the next episode, at school, Caleb is still hacking into "A's" files, but immediately locks his computer when he spots Garrett walking toward him with another police officer. Garrett shows Caleb a court order, which allows them to confiscate his laptop. When Caleb asks why, Garret explains that someone is hacking into the school files, and he traced it back to his IP address. Caleb almost finds it humorous that they think he would be stupid enough to leave a trail, but Garrett says that they will find out, and a reluctant Caleb hands over his laptop. Garrett asks if there are any passwords they will need, but Caleb notes that the court order is allowing them to take his laptop, and doesn't say anything about what information is in his head.
Caleb and Hanna talk in the empty computer room, where Hanna is freaking out, but Caleb is calm. He assures Hanna that he didn't do what they think he did, and there is no way they will be able to get past his firewall without his help. Hanna says that someone did get into his laptop, and they put the evidence in there somewhere he wouldn't find it, and she thinks the person who did that might be Garrett. She suggests Caleb to go online, log into his computer remotely and delete the files. But when he tries, he can't connect, which he says means one of two things: either the police haven't tried messing with it yet, or they're smart enough to keep it offline.
Later, Caleb is at the police station. He calls Hanna and tells her that he plans to cooperate, as he doesn't seem to have a choice. As Caleb notices Darren and Garrett arriving, he quickly tells Hanna that he is in a very hot spot and that he needs her help, hanging up before he can elaborate, and is lead out of the room by the two cops. Darren hands Caleb his laptop and says he is going to watch him log in, telling him there better not be any funny business. Caleb types in his password, switching his laptop online. Caleb is told to stand at the other end of the room, while Darren and Garrett go through his files.
Garrett and Darren open the folder in question, just as the final files are erased. Shocked, they try to get them back and accuse Caleb of doing something, but Caleb simply says he was hacked and probably has a virus or something, silently knowing Hanna came through.
In If These Dolls Could Talk, Caleb goes along with the plot to help uncover "A." Mona gets a text from A directing her to split Hanna and him up, so that night, Mona and Caleb conspicuously kiss in Mona's car. Before the kiss, Mona confides in Caleb that she is jealous that Hanna found someone solid like him, while she has had only short-term relationships. Melissa catches sight of the two. Caleb is reluctant, but does it for Hanna, who is unhappy but not threatened by the ordeal.
Caleb surprises Hanna at the masquerade party when he was supposed to be spending time with his mother in California. He is the complimentary Romeo to her Juliet costume. They kiss and dance.
Caleb has been taking cooking classes with Hanna during the summer. In It Happened 'That Night', Caleb and Hanna plan to go together to buy the things they need for cooking, but Hanna bails, telling him that she has an appointment with Dr. Sullivan. So, she gives him the list, and promises to make an unforgettable Dong Po for dinner.
That night, Caleb and Hanna are cooking together. He asks about her session with Dr. Sullivan, and is surprised to hear that she doesn't talk about them. He even calls them intimate, much to Hanna's amazement.
In Blood Is The New Black, Caleb is in a classroom working on something as Hanna comes to see him. She asks for a rain-check on their dinner date. When Caleb asks for a reason, Hanna makes up something about helping her mother pick up a dress for an upcoming event. Though Caleb seems suspicious, he does not question her. Before Hanna leaves, Hanna kisses Caleb on his cheek and then Hanna says "See you later,sweetie." And then leaves.
"I'll go with you."
Later, at Hanna's house, Caleb brings dinner. As they sit down, he notices that Hanna is very distracted. Frustrated, he confronts her and asks for the truth. Hanna reveals that she has to go see Mona. Caleb is shocked, but Hanna says she is having an "ambiguous loss." Caleb is surprised to hear her use such big words, but ultimately agrees to go with her to the Radley the next day, not wanting them to sneak around each other.
At Radley, Caleb waits outside, while Hanna goes inside to see Mona. Just then, Wren walks up to him, and introduces himself. He tells that Hanna has been visiting Mona for a while now, which comes as news to Caleb. He also learns that Hanna has been talking to Wren a lot, when Wren mentions the term "ambiguous loss."
In Kingdom of the Blind, Caleb pours his water on the fire that Lucas has set while Hanna was in the room. After he sets it out he yells, WHAT THE HELL?
Caleb and Hanna go to a coffee shop to talk about Lucas. Hanna says that Lucas used to be so sweet and Caleb jokes by saying no guy ever wants to be called sweet by a girl. Hanna wants Caleb to talk to Lucas but Caleb doesn't know because he hasn't really talked to him since he moved out but Caleb agrees to do it, if Hanna agrees to do something for him. She asks what is it and Caleb says that he doesn't want her to see Mona anymore. Before it goes to the next scene, Hanna calls Caleb sweet.
Caleb goes and tries to talk to Lucas in the chem lab. Lucas asks what he wants and Caleb says that he tried to set fire to his girlfriend. Lucas says something about how he got in trouble. Caleb then asks him if there is anything he wants to talk about and Lucas tells him to mind his own business. Caleb says he would and is pretty good about doing that, but there are other people involved, meaning Hanna. Lucas says he is sorry about that and Caleb then tells him that he knows all about Mona being A and the walks out.
At Radley, Caleb waits for Hanna outside. When she sees him, she thinks he followed her but Caleb is mad that she lied to him because she said that she would stop seeing Mona. Hanna assures him that Mona isn't crazy and that she just wants answers. Hanna also lets it slip that Mona was the one who ran her over. Caleb is angry at this but before he can say anything, Lucas walks out. Hanna wants to know why he is there but Lucas doesn't say much and walks away. Caleb puts his hand on her shoulders.
Caleb goes back to Radley to see Mona but Hanna doesn't know. He listens to her as she tells him about her Uncle teaching her how to play some card games and that it helps pass the time while in here. Caleb cuts to the chase about why he is here and that is for Hanna. He tells her not to mess with Hanna and also mentions that he gets to walk out that door while she doesn't. Mona then responds by saying he was a lousy kisser and then flips the table going really crazy. While the guards hold her back, Caleb leaves Radley.
In Birds of a Feather, Caleb surprises Hanna with tickets to a concert. Hanna doesn't look that happy as he thought she would be so he jokes by saying this was the part where she is supposed to jump up and kiss him so he asks her what is wrong. Hanna tells her that she tried to see Mona but Mona went all crazy when a guy went to go see her. Hanna says she is going to kill Lucas but Caleb says that he went to go see her. Hanna asks why and Caleb says that he went there to tell her to stop messing with you{Hanna}. Hanna then says that Mona is in Radley so she cant hurt her anymore and she also brings up that Wren thinks its good that she goes and sees Mona. Caleb asks why she is listening to some guy she barely knows over him. Hanna says she cant talk to him because he has made up his mind about Mona. Before saying anything else, Caleb throws the tickets in the air and leaves angry.
Caleb's mom gets into a car accident but she is okay. Caleb goes over to Hanna's house because she had to tell him something. Hanna doesn't tell him anything though so Caleb decides to leave because he is tired of her shutting him out. Caleb feels like Hanna has been pushing him away for weeks and that is not good enough for him. Caleb gives Hanna one last chance to tell him, but she doesn't. Caleb then breaks up with Hanna.
Caleb is later at a hang out place alone looking sad because he had to break up with Hanna.
In Stolen Kisses, Caleb returns form California. He is at The Brew getting a coffee when he sees Hanna walking over to him. They look at each other for a while before Caleb looks at Wren. Caleb then knows they are talking about Mona and leaves The Brew.
At school, Spencer sees Caleb getting out of his new car that his mom gave him after her accident. He drove it back from California because he had a lot of thinking to do. Spencer then asks him how to get around a tough password. Caleb catches on that she is talking about a real website in which Spencer confesses that she needs help getting onto a website because she can't crack it. Caleb wants to know who's site it is.
Caleb and Spencer sit down at a table as Spencer tells him about Maya's website and how they got it from Mona. They discuss if it is real or not but Spencer says if it is not real, it's a cruel thing to do to Emily. Caleb says he will help her because no matter what happened, Hanna is still important to him and he wants to crush the Mona Monster.
After school, Caleb goes to Spencer house to help her crack the website. They discuss how to crack into tough passwords and how some people have passwords they can remember. Spencer notices that Caleb has a nice computer and he tells her his mom gave it to him. Caleb and Spencer discuss all the new things he got, like the car, the computer and the sweater. Spencer admits that the sweater is $400, which makes Caleb think he should wash it on gentle. But Spencer tells him to take it the dry cleaners even though Caleb is not that type of guy. Spencer tells him that was then and this is now.
Still at Spencer's house, Caleb cracks into the website and Spencer gives him a hug because he did it. They watch the video of Maya telling the people that are watching the video that the website is cursed and they should enter at their own risk.
In The Kahn Game, Caleb is in the hallway when he sees Hanna. He stares at her for a while before walking up to her. He asks her if she has seen Spencer because he has the new log in for the website. Their conversation is a little awkward as they discuss how they are and how Caleb's mom is.
Caleb shows up at The Grille where Hanna is. Hanna wants him to leave but he wants her to get in the car. He admits that he was the one who sent the text. Hanna gets in the car with him as they drive to an alley. Caleb knows she is scared but Hanna is freaking out because he doesn't know what any of this means. Caleb thinks he knows because she can stop lying to him and they can be together. Hanna furiously gets out of the car as she tells him what A has done including running his mom of the road which scared her.
Caleb talks to Hanna about Maya's website and how if they find clues on there, it could led them to who killed Maya and who this new A could be. Hanna is still furious that he tricked her and doesn't want to go down this road with him again. But Caleb doesn't give up because this New A could be someone close to her, like another Mona. Caleb admits that he is going to help her stop A and is not asking for her permission. He pulls Hanna toward him as they begin to make out.
In Single Fright Female, Caleb is at school IMing Hanna in the computer room. Hanna is worried about the flash drive her mom found and that she may turn them into the police. Caleb thinks she should take a breath and he also writes he is finding it really hard not to go over to her and kiss her. They look at each other before Jenna comes and takes Hanna's spot. Caleb watches as Hanna leaves and Jenna sits.
Caleb sneaks into CeCe's shop in the dressing room as he waits for Hanna. When Hanna comes in, he pulls her into the room to talk. Caleb talked to her mom about not turning in the videos because Wilden could watch Hanna change into a bikini. Caleb tells Hanna he doesn't know how much longer he can do this as he pulls her in for a kiss.
In The Lady Killer, Caleb is helping out the girls as he watches Emily's house but leaves when her mom comes home. When he goes over to Hanna's house, he almost gets hit because Hanna, Spencer and Aria thought he was "A". Spencer shows Caleb the text "A" sent them about Ali's body. Caleb decides that he is going with them tonight for their protection.
Caleb is in Hanna's room packing things into his bag for their confrontation with "A." Caleb is about to pack a gun when Hanna sees it. She doesn't want him to bring it but Caleb wants to because this "A" ran his mom off the road. Hanna tells him he can forget about coming if he brings it so Caleb puts the gun away. But without Hanna knowing, Caleb takes it with him anyway.
In front of Ali's grave, Caleb shows Hanna, Spencer and Aria the phone voice so Hanna can just to talk into it and he'll hear her. Caleb hides behind some trees as he waits for "A" to arrive. They wait awhile, but Caleb leaves when he overhears a conversation between Hanna, Spencer and Aria about Paige and Emily being at a Lighthouse Hotel. They found two in the county so Caleb goes to one as the girls go to the other.
When Caleb arrives at the lighthouse, he finds Emily with blood on her and sees Nate dead. He puts his gun down as he comforts Emily making sure she is alright. As he is hugging her, presumably Nate takes the gun and shoots Caleb. Caleb is getting into an ambulance with a gunshot wound on his side, which is the reason Hanna is crying profusely. Later in the episode, he undergoes surgery to save his life.
In This Is A Dark Ride, Caleb is doing a lot better as he makes out with Hanna in a cleaning room until they knock down some toilet paper. As he picks them up, Hanna is upset because they are back to square one by sneaking around. Caleb mentions that no one has heard from "A" since the lighthouse and they also discuss the Ghost Train.
Caleb surprises Hanna on the train in his Phantom of the Opera costume. During "Cuckoo" he sneaks up to her but she doesn't know it's him until he follows her outside. She kicks him thinking he is a stranger, but he takes off his mask and they kiss.
At the end, Caleb is still on the train because the police want statements about Garrett's body and the events leading up to that. He is shocked to see Ali's remains were on the train the whole time after Noel knocked the table down.
In She's Better Now Caleb and Hanna are talking about Mona's locker incident. Hanna suggests that Lucas may be limping after Aria stabbed someone through the box she was locked in on the Halloween train. Caleb says that Lucas haven't been talking much since he revealed that he had lost Caleb's money.
At the school's 10k Aria and Caleb can't believe that everybody has forgotten what Mona was like. Aria asks what it was like to grow up without a dad. Caleb says he would look for him. However, he gave up when he was 13 because he was tired of focusing on someone he never met and started focusing on himself. He does admit, though, that sometimes he does wish that he could meet his dad to replace the person he always imagined with a real person.
In "Misery Loves Company," Hanna overhears Caleb talking to someone on the phone about her and Mona, saying he will meet up with them later. Later at the brew, Caleb meets Paige and they decide to find evidence to prove that Mona is trouble.
In the episode "Dead to Me," Caleb is able to meet his real father Jamie, who he thought was his uncle for so many years. In "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted," Jamie and Caleb are able to bond as father and son thanks to Hanna. Hanna is able to help Caleb grow even closer with Jamie after having them meet for coffee and arranging for Jamie fix the church bell tower after the incident where Ian fell to his death.
In "What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted," Hanna decides that Caleb and Jamie have to talk. Rethinking the meet up with Jamie, Hanna calls him and almost tells him to forget about the whole thing since Caleb didn't want to go, but instead just says that she will see him there. Caleb show up just as Hanna was about to leave and agrees to go with her. They go to The Brew where they wait for his father to come.
Hanna and Caleb are about to leave The Brew, convinced that his father wasn't going to show up when Jamie walks through the door. He and Caleb sit down and talk while, and Hanna stays with Caleb, saying “I'd get you a fresh piece [of cake], but if I stand up again it's to pee, and I would rather do that in my pants than leave you two alone.”
Hanna and Caleb are at the church with Jamie, Ashley and the pastor, waiting for Jamie and the pastor to discuss Jamie possibly getting a job at the church. Caleb is so happy that Hanna came up with the plan and tells her that Jamie thinks that she is remarkable and that Caleb is the luckiest person ever. They begin to kiss, but stop as Ashley walks in and tells them that Jamie got the job and they should celebrate with pizza at home. Before walking out, Hanna drops a five dollar bill that has a unique drawing of dice on it into the donation box.
As Emily and Jason leave, the elevator they get on stops suddenly. Jason is able to get the elevator doors open, and Emily jumps down to the floor. When she does, the doors close and the elevator falls down the shaft with Jason in it.
In I'm Your Puppet," Caleb and Hanna are together and happy, and Caleb is so glad Hanna got his father, Jamie, the job at the church. Hanna seems unenthusiastic and is still worrying about the church money she saw that Jamie had.
Caleb rants to Hanna about how his father is innocent about the church bell, and she reveals that she saw her money donation to the church in Jamie's wallet. Caleb is heartbroken, but believes her.
Jamie comes to Hanna's house, and is confronted by Caleb. Caleb yells at him, and Jamie seems confused, but leaves when Caleb tells him to. They cut off ties, and Caleb is hurt that his father betrayed him again.
"That's my proof!"
Caleb and Hanna are talking at the carnival, and Caleb sadly tells her about how he'd hoped his father would be there for him this time. When Caleb goes to get them coffee, the church bell tolls, and Hanna gets an "A" text revealing that Jamie was framed. Caleb comes up behind her and looks at her phone, reading the text.
The Alternate endings for pAige and cAleb (in The Lady Killer)
Caleb's character does not exist in the books.
In the first book, Pretty Little Liars, when Aria's family first returns to Rosewood, Mike exclaims "Hey, there's Caleb's house." This is probably not the same Caleb, but it is a funny coincidence.
It was confirmed on Twitter that Nate (Lyndon James) shot him in The Lady Killer.
Alternate endings to The Lady Killer were filmed to avoid the actual reveal from being leaked. In one of the alternate endings, Caleb is part of the A-Team of course this wouldn't have worked because he had been shot.
In the Season 4 Halloween episode, Caleb left Rosewood for good to go to Ravenswood and help with the fanatasy problems there.
In the episode Crash and Burn, Girl! Caleb teamed up with Toby to find out who Red Coat/A is.
Caleb and Toby also found out from a man called Nigel that it was supposedly Cece who told him not to tell anyone about her being on the plane.
It has been confirmed that Caleb will return to Rosewood in Season 5 due to Ravenswood being cancelled.

Haleb
He and Hanna Marin are currently broken up because Caleb couldn't tell her about the Ravenswood curse.
Reason: Caleb had to go back to Ravenswood to protect Miranda and break the curse. When Hanna asked him for an explanation, all he told her was that it was 'complicated' and led her to believe that he was leaving her for Miranda.
Friendships
Caleb doesn't like to let too many people get too close to him, except for Hanna, and Lucas when he still lived with him and was developing a close friendship despite the two boys being so different. We have only seen Caleb interact with a few other people: Hanna, Ms. Marin, Spencer, Aria, Lucas, and a few random students from Rosewood High. Lucas lost a good deal of the money that Caleb had saved up for years on a basketball game scheme that didn't work out. Lucas was desperate and nearly suicidal as he felt that he betrayed Caleb. Caleb has since forgiven Lucas, and Lucas has sold his comic books to make up some of the money. After Caleb works on A's cellphone, he becomes close with Spencer, Emily and Aria.
Bromance
The one exception to Caleb's loner rule is Lucas Gottesman. Lucas cares a lot for Hanna, and understands she could not be happy without Caleb. Lucas is the first to find out what Mona did to Caleb's goodbye letter and proceeds to drive to Arizona and bring Caleb back to Rosewood to make Hanna happy. He allows Caleb to crash in his room while attending Rosewood High. Caleb, in turn, becomes a loyal friend to Lucas, honoring his commitment to watch "The Goonies" with Lucas instead of hanging out further with Hanna one evening. He also helps Lucas out with his pursuing Danielle. Caleb and Hanna go on a double date with Lucas and Danielle because Lucas is feeling nervous about the date.
He has also started up a friendship/bromance with Toby Cavanaugh since they were both trying to figure out who A really is. They find out Nigel Wright was driving the plane together and Caleb even stopped Toby from breaking into a car before the cops came per Spencer's request but he could have refused so he care about Toby.
Caleb: What’s complicated? I don’t live in a cave; I get it. The rich girls steal, the pretty girls lie, the smart girls play dumb, and the dumb girls spend their days trying to be all of the above - Caleb to Spencer when he finds her trying to break into Ian's desk
Spencer: We're not even standing that close to you. Caleb: Really? Then how do I know that you had a cheeseburger for lunch?
Caleb [to Hanna]: You're queen of heels and handbags, but out here you're Dora the Explorer?- when they camped out in the woods because Hanna's mother had kicked Caleb out of the house when she found out he was living there.
Emily [about Maya]: Who told you it was rehab? Caleb: A nice cushy town like this, I’m guessing rehab is the new boarding school.
Hanna [to Ashley]: Caleb is new to Rosewood this year. Caleb: They brought me in to class the place up.
Caleb [to Hanna, gesturing towards his phone]: Meet my social worker.
"James Leland": Are you her son? Caleb: No, I'm just the guy who opens the door.
Caleb [to Spencer and Hanna]: What do you like to do for fun on weekends? Break old ladies' hips?
Caleb [to Hanna]: What's the matter? Gotta be the first in line to see your boy Justin Bieber's new movie? Hanna: It's not just a movie; it's his life story. Caleb: About what, his hair?
Caleb: Knowing the right questions is better than having all the right answers.
Caleb [about his laptop]: They couldn't get into it with a can opener.
Caleb: Well, could somebody at least tell me why Emily smells like a bag of mulch?
Caleb [to Hanna, about kissing Mona]: Cracking the code to a cell phone is one thing, but now we are crossing over to, like, Fear Factor territory.
Hanna [about Mona]: Could you at least pretend not to hate her? Caleb: I thought that I was.
Caleb: Hanna, you're talking to the guy who just kidnapped his own girlfriend.
Hanna: What are you doing here? I almost killed you! Caleb: With a pink furry lamp, Hanna?
Emily [about her job]: I gotta go. Caleb: Hey! Feed me, I'm starving.
Caleb: So while the girls are playing sitting duck, I'm ready to circle the pond and... Paige: Nail her psychotic butt to the wall Caleb: Yeah, something like that
Caleb [in I'm Your Puppet]: Help with what? Back up your story? What's his cut? Jamie: What?! Hanna: Caleb, don't do this right now. Jamie: You should listen to your girlfriend Caleb: I am. I believe her when she says this isn't the first time you've stolen from that church
Caleb: I woke up! And I realized this isn't the first time you've screwed me over! Jamie: Oh, I see. I'm still that person, huh? Somehow you managed to forgive your mother. I don't suppose it doesn't have any thing to do with that fancy car she tossed at you. Caleb: This has nothing to do this! Jamie: Maybe not. It gotta be easy to point a finger at someone with a rusty pick-up and no permanent address. Isn't that all the proof you need? Caleb: All the proof that I needed were the ratty hand-me-downs I had as a kid. Remember the winter coat that ended at my elbow? And the unsigned permission slips. A-and the the social workers. And the foster families who slammed doors at my face when they're tired of looking at me. That is MY proof!
